Encryption

IDrive uses industry standard 256-bit AES encryption on storage. You can opt for any one of the following options while logging into your IDrive account, for the first time:
  • Default encryption key
  • Private encryption key (known only to you)

IDrive Express will make use of the same encryption key to encrypt your data.

Note: Once the encryption key is set to your account it cannot be changed.

WARNING: IDrive does not store your private encryption key on its servers. It is recommended that you archive it safely to backup and restore your data. However, if you opt for the Default encryption key, you need not remember it.
