Clear, enable, and manage cookies

You can choose to delete existing cookies, allow or block all cookies, and set preferences

To disable cookies,

  1. Click the menu button and choose 'Options'.
  2. Select the 'Privacy & Security' panel and go to the 'History' section.
  3. In the drop-down menu next to 'Firefox will', choose 'Use custom settings for history'.
  4. Disable the box 'Accept cookies from websites'.
  5. If you are troubleshooting problems with cookies, make sure that ‘Accept third-party cookies’ is NOT set to Never. For more information, see Disable third-party cookies in Firefox to stop some types of tracking by advertisers.

    Alternatively, you can choose how long cookies are allowed to be stored:

    Keep until:

    1. they expire: Each cookie will be removed when it reaches its expiration date, which is set by the site that sent the cookie.
    2. I close Firefox: The cookies that are stored on your computer will be removed when Firefox is closed.

Close the about:preferences page. Any changes you've made will be automatically saved.

To clear cookies,

  1. Click the menu button and choose 'Options'.
  2. Select the 'Privacy & Security' panel and go to the 'History section'.
  3. In the drop-down menu next to Firefox will, choose Use custom settings for history.
  4. In the Cookies & Site Data section, click 'Manage Data'.
  5. In the 'Search: field', type the name of the site whose cookies you want to remove. The cookies that match your search will be displayed.
  6. Select the cookie(s) in the list to remove and click 'Remove Selected'.
  7. Click 'Close' to close the Cookies window. Close the about:preferences page.
