This guide provides information on backup settings, restore settings, archive cleanup, exclude options, general settings, and logs.

Backup settings

Configure various settings related to backups.

backup_settings

Steps:

  1. Choose Backup settings from the main menu.
  2. Follow the prompts to configure settings.

Settings

  • Backup location: Specifies the storage location name for backups.
  • Backup set rescan interval: Defines how often the system rescans the backup set for changes.
  • Bandwidth throttle (%): Sets the maximum bandwidth percentage for the backup process.
  • Failed files (%): Indicates the permissible percentage of failed files before the backup is deemed unsuccessful.
  • Ignore file/folder permission error: Specifies whether to ignore permission errors during the backup.
  • Show hidden files/folders: Determines if hidden files and folders should be included.
  • Upload multiple file chunks simultaneously: Indicates if multiple file chunks will be uploaded simultaneously to speed up the backup process.

Restore settings

Configure various settings related to restores.

restore_settings

Steps:

  1. Choose Restore settings from the main menu.
  2. Follow the prompts to configure settings.

Settings

  • Data will be restored from: Specifies the source location for the restore.
  • Restore location: Indicates the destination directory for restored data.
  • Restore location prompt: Determines if the user will be prompted to confirm the restore location before the operation.

Archive cleanup

Compares the files in your local storage with those in your IDriveĀ® online backup account and deletes files in your account not present locally, helping free up space.

archive_cleanup

Steps:

  1. Choose Archive cleanup from the main menu.
  2. Follow the prompts to perform the cleanup.

Settings


  • Status: Indicates whether the archive cleanup schedule is enabled or disabled.
  • Frequency: Specifies how often the archive process occurs.
  • Percentage limit: Refers to the files considered for deletion as a percentage of the total files.
  • Email notifications: Indicates if email notifications are enabled for cleanup status updates.
  • Cleanup now: Option to manually initiate an immediate archive cleanup.

Exclude options

Specify files or directories to exclude from backups.

Steps:

  1. Choose Exclude options from the main menu.
  2. Follow the prompts to add or remove exclusions.


Full Path Exclude:

  1. Choose Edit the exclusion list based on full path.
  2. The FullExcludeList.txt file will open in a text editor.
  3. Enter the full path of the files/folders to exclude.
  4. Save and exit.

Example:

To exclude /home/Documents/temp from /home/Documents, enter /home/Documents/temp in FullExcludeList.txt.

Partial Path Exclude:

  1. Choose Edit the exclusion list based on partial path.
  2. The PartialExcludeList.txt file will open in a text editor.
  3. Enter the partial name of the files/folders to exclude.
  4. Save and exit.

Example:

To exclude all .pst files in /home/Documents, enter pst in PartialExcludeList.txt.

Regex Exclude:

  1. Choose Edit the exclusion list based on regex pattern.
  2. The RegexExcludeList.txt file will open in a text editor.
  3. Enter the regex pattern for the files/folders to exclude.
  4. Save and exit.

Example:

To exclude folders/files with numeric values in their names, such as /home/Folder01, enter Folder\d+ in RegexExcludeList.txt.

exclude_options

General settings

Configure general application settings.

Steps:

  1. Choose General settings from the main menu.
  2. Follow the prompts to configure the settings.

Logs

View or delete logs for various operations such as backup, restore, archive cleanup, and CDP.

View logs

Steps:

  1. Choose View logs from the main menu.
  2. Follow the prompts to view the desired logs.

Remove logs

Steps:

  1. Choose Remove logs from the main menu.
  2. Select the respective option to remove the logs.
